Are you in the mood for a good Audio book?

Audio books on cassette are becoming a thing of the past. Technology has propelled the enjoyment of reading into mainstream by providing a variety of reading options. The clunky, old cassette tapes are no longer the go-to media; they have been replaced by a wave of fast-acting, space-saving media options allowing readers to increase their personal libraries without the loss of space. What formats are available to audio book lovers?

Here are a few of the audio book formats available today:

MP3 -- Audiobooks preloaded on and/or specially formatted for mp3 players.

Cassette tapes -- Audiobooks recorded on cassette tapes.

CD (Compact discs) --Audiobooks recorded on compact discs.

Playaways -- Audiobooks preloaded on specially formatted mp3 players.

Text-to-Speech (TTS) -- Used primarily by individuals with print disabilities, TTS only needs a computer or
special digital reader with text-to-speech software that enables it to read any digital text.

Downloadable Audiobooks -- Audiobooks that can be downloaded from a website or database such as Overdrive.
