Rain or Shine Storytime must go on!

At Storytime this week we had two fantastic volunteer readers who shared three exciting children's books that had a camping theme. Even though the weather was horrible out yesterday afternoon, we were happy to see that a few people braved the rain for Storytime.

 Reader - Wanda M.

Wanda began Storytime with A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen. Mr. Magee and his dog, Dee, are headed out for a peaceful camping trip that quickly turns into an adventure they won't soon forget.

Reader - Glinda C.

Glinda started off with Let's Go Camping with Mr. Sillypants by M.K. Brown. Mr. Sillypants gets lost while on his camping trip and has a dream about "The Three Bears."

The final book of the day was Jerome Camps Out by Eileen Christelow. In this fun-filled story, Jerome Alligator goes on a camping trip with his Swamp School classmates. Jerome and his friends are excited about going swimming, hiking, fishing, and sleeping in a tent, but the class bully, Buster, turns out to be their tentmate, and he's up to his usual nasty tricks.

After enjoying three exciting camping tales, it was time for crafts. This week we made fireflies out of water bottles. To make our fireflies glow, we added glowsticks. Next we turned off the lights to see the finished product. It was a simple and fun little craft that requires very little preparation. We plan to do this activity again so if you couldn't make it to Storytime you still have a chance to make a firefly of your very own.

For those of you just learning about our weekly Storytime, it will be held on Thursdays from 4:30 - 5:30pm. If you would like to volunteer please call or come by the library and talk to Jennifer to get on the Storytime schedule.

See you next Thursday for more exciting stories and activities!!
