Storytime with Speedy the Turtle

Our Storytime theme this week was turtles. A very special guest named Speedy stopped in for a visit.

Lisa M. read I Wish I Could Fly by Ron Maris. It's about a turtle that wishes he could fly, dive, climb, and run like other animals, but then he realizes he can do something that they can't.

After the story, all of the children had a chance to visit with Speedy. We had a blast learning about what type of turtle Speedy is and what he likes to eat.

During activity time, we designed pet turtles with glitter glue, beads, and stickers. All of the kids created colorful turtle shell designs. They also made homes for their pet turtles.

Next week is the beginning of our annual summer reading program. This year the theme is Dig Into Reading. We have a lot of exciting things planned so mark your calendars.

Summer Reading Program Schedule (from 10:00 to 11:00am)

Wednesday, June 19th -- Animals That Dig
Wednesday, June 26th -- Pirates and Buried Treasure
Wednesday, July 3rd -- Root Vegetables
Wednesday, July 10th -- Tools and Machines That Dig

Storytime will continue to be a weekly event on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm. That means you can have twice as much fun this summer.
